Privacy Policy — LocalInference

The short version

LocalInference collects no data. None. Your conversations, images, and settings

stay on your device. We have no servers, no accounts, no analytics, and no

crash reporting. We cannot see anything you do in the app.

What stays on your device

• Chats and images are stored in a local database on your phone and never

transmitted anywhere by us.

• Settings (active model, system prompt, preferences) are stored locally.
• API keys you optionally add are stored in your device's secure

keychain/keystore and are sent only to the provider they belong to

(Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or a server you configure) when you choose to

use that provider.

Network connections the app makes

LocalInference only uses the network for:

1. 1. Model downloads — one-time downloads of AI model files from

huggingface.co over HTTPS, at your explicit request.

2. 2. Optional tools you invoke — if tools are enabled and you ask for a web

search or a webpage, the app contacts DuckDuckGo or the page you requested

directly from your device.

3. 3. Optional cloud models — if you add your own API key, your prompts for

those conversations are sent directly from your device to that provider

under their privacy policy. This never happens unless you set it up.

There is no proxy, no middleman, and no telemetry in any of these paths.

Device permissions

• Photos (optional): to attach an image you pick to a message. Access is

select-photos-only; images are processed on-device.

• Contacts / Calendar (optional): only when you ask the assistant to look

up a contact or manage events. Any change (like creating an event) shows a

confirmation dialog first. Data is read on-device and shown to the on-device

model; it is not transmitted (unless you are deliberately using a cloud

model in that conversation).

Children

LocalInference is not directed at children under 13. AI-generated content may be

inaccurate; verify important information.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version ships with the app update and is

posted at https://localinference.app/privacy.
